Who We Are
Hopeful Horizons is a Children's Advocacy, Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center serving the following counties that make up the 14th Judicial Circuit: Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, Hampton and Allendale. Our mission is to protect, treat and prevent. We will provide safety, hope and healing to survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault through evidence-based practices and lead in ending abuse through primary prevention and education. Our vision is a community without abuse. Our goal is to facilitate whole childhood, safe relationships, healthy families and a violence free community.
What We Do
Hopeful Horizons provides comprehensive services to victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault all under one roof. As a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), we work hard every day to ensure that the system designed to protect children does not, in turn, re-victimize them. We coordinate child abuse investigations, protection, treatment and prosecution efforts through our close partnerships with all of the agencies involved. Children and families who receive services here at Hopeful Horizons have access to cutting-edge best practices in the field. We provide expert child forensic interviewing for children who may be experiencing abuse, expert child abuse medical evaluations, and evidence based trauma treatment for children and their non-offending caregivers to help them heal from the trauma of abuse. We provide a twenty-four hour crisis line for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, 24/7 hospital response for victims of sexual assault, emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Court accompaniment, legal support, trauma focused therapy/counseling and case management are available to both shelter residents and victims living in the community. We provide services to victims and their families at no cost . All services are confidential. We also provide primary prevention education in the schools to stop the cycle of violence and community education to increase awareness and promote best practice victim-centered responses to these crimes.
