Volunteer to help with VITA! The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax assistance to eligible taxpayers who need help preparing their tax returns.
Why volunteer for the 2024 tax filing season (February - mid-April 2025)?
- Help your neighbors save money. You can help taxpayers in your community claim the tax credits they are eligible for, allowing them to keep more of what they have earned as well as the cost of preparing their taxes. The average cost to prepare a tax return is $250.
- We offer seasonal and flexible hours. The program provides these free services from mid-to-late January through mid-April, with volunteers serving an average of three to six hours per week. With multiple tax site locations, you can choice a site convenient for you.
- No prior experience needed. The program welcomes people from all backgrounds, ages and experience levels to better accommodate the diverse needs of those served. Spanish speaking interpreters highly welcomed.
- Free training and materials provided. Volunteers receive free specialized tax law training and materials to become IRS-certified tax preparers. Experienced VITA volunteers provide training and mentoring for newbies!

Training will be conducted via Zoom and In-person session in December and January with dates and times to be announced.
