FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice patient volunteers are vital to our organization. Without volunteers, it would be impossible for us to provide all of the services that enhance the quality of life for our patients and their families. All volunteers are required to undergo a background check, driving record check, TB test and present a copy of a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Volunteers receive training and work in conjunction with other members of our team, or the Coordinated Care Team, and under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. The most important role of the volunteer is to be a loving, supportive friend. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, the patient volunteer assists patients and their families by:
- reading to the patient
- providing companionship
We encourage volunteers who have any specialty (art, pet, music therapy) to share those activities with our patients.
AVERAGE TIME INVOLVED: 4 hours per month, plus one meeting per quarter
