Who We Are

The Agape Family Life Center (AFLC) is committed to providing opportunities to empower individuals, promote family excellence and nurture better health and wellness within Jasper County.  Our primary focus areas are Education, Nutrition, and Wellness.

We are organized and operated as a non-profit charitable tax-exempt organization within the meaning of Section 501(C)3 of the internal Revenue Code and the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office with our Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) in September 2000.  The Board of Directors is comprised of grassroots members representative of the economically and culturally diverse population it serves.  December 2007 marked the opening of our 22,000 square foot facility.

What We Do

Our after-school program, since its inception in 2010 school year, has continued to be deemed a success in the community by the improvement shown through our enrolled students’ state test scores.  With the approval of the grant we wish to continue the momentum we started with the school and students by continuing our after-school tutorial and our Back-Pack Buddy Nutritional program.  We provide extended learning and mentoring programs for disadvantaged students.  They are also involved in educational enrichment activities that focus on nutrition and physical activities. This program will help to decrease hunger in their families.

While more children are in school today than ever before, many are not learning basic skills like reading once they are enrolled.  Our After School program will help change that by creating a culture of reading both inside and outside the classroom.  We will ensure every enrolled student receives a quality education and gains the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and develop.  Our program is geared to ensure that our students learn how to read by the age of 12, and that the learning gaps between the poorest and the richest children are significantly reduced.

Agape Family Life Center is also committed conquering Hunger.  We offer food distribution twice weekly to local residents.  These nutritional food items help to enhance the well-being needs of many Jasper County residents.
