Fresh Start Healing Heart

Our Mission: Our mission is to compassionately walk beside Survivors of Human Trafficking, providing safe housing, immediate needs and restorative services for emotional, spiritual, physical, educational and financial healing. Our vision is : " Healing and Freedom From Human Trafficking" Since starting in 2015 Fresh Start Healing Heart has had the opportunity to educate over 8,000 community members from teachers, lawyers, medical staff, law enforcement to youth. We have accomplished this so far through community events, civic groups, the birth of low country human trafficking task force, our " I STAND" conference and media. We have had the honor to touch the lives of 24 survivors, house 11 and we continue services with 8. Our numbers may not be large but they are lives that effect generations to come.

We walk beside survivors during their healing process as they are working on themselves. We provide host family housing for safety. Their basic needs are meet so they can focus on only themselves and not their needs. Our counseling team works to get to the root of all pain so they can move forward fresh and free, and not end up in the same situations. Often survivors come in with little to no knowledge of cooking, sewing, cleaning or even how to fill out basic paperwork or even how to properly care for themselves, so our mentors work on life skill, boundaries, exercises and nutrition courses and even to driving correctly. Most of all we provide through our mentors and host family the ability for survivors to learn new ways to communicate in a family setting. The example of unconditional love, grace and what healthier relationships look like. We refer for services they may need or want, from medical to lawyers, continued education and more. We want to equip survivors to be the person they were intended to be before others stold their life away or didn't even give them a chance to know who they are. This takes time and time is different for each person, so we are here until. Many have become adopted into our families and or have taken us on as extended family. As we reach out to the community for education and prevention we speak in all different settings and attend community events to pass out educational materials. All that we do is through volunteers and dedicated professionals.
