Volunteer: Donation Pick-UpWe are looking for one or two individuals with trucks who could pick up furniture donations for our Furnish A Future program and deliver to our storage units. Furniture is typically donated from Bluffton and Hilton Head and our storage units are in Bluffton and Okatie. Furnish a Future is a Hopeful Horizons' program, led by a dedicated volunteer group, to create safe and joyful spaces for women who are starting a new life after surviving domestic violence. In many cases, women and their children need to rebuild from the ground up and furnishing their new home with love will provide them with a positive start on their journey. Furnish a Future collects donated items specific for each family. Volunteer: Crisis Intervention VolunteersHopeful Horizons’ volunteers are an indispensable part of our organization. We are able to provide 24/7 crisis intervention services only through the concerted efforts of our pool of dedicated supporters willing to donate their time. Each of our volunteers receives 25 hours of mandatory training to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work directly with survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. Our volunteers help by staffing the crisis hotline, accompanying victims to the hospital or to court, assist with various duties at the emergency shelter, and help in our prevention and outreach services and activities.
