Needs From: Lowcountry Volunteer Connections

Volunteers are needed to drive a four-person golf cart (Trolley) throughout the Hilton Head Hospital campus.

The Trolley is a valuable and much appreciated service on our Hilton Head Hospital campus.  It is operated by a dedicated team of volunteers on weekdays from 9:00-4:00 PM, transporting patients and visitors between the various parking lots and buildings on hospital grounds.  All who need or want a ride are welcome to use this free service.   A team of trolley drivers drive throughout the year and in all kinds of weather and typically transport 80 to100 people per day.

Volunteer activities include the following:

Ability to drive 4-person Golf Cart Enjoy being outside. Interacts with staff, patients, and patient families.

Additional Details:

Be able to commit to volunteering once a week for a four-hour shift. Able to follow and execute instructions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Volunteers are needed for various positions at our Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina Hospital. Our volunteer program is open to men and women from all walks of life. Opportunities are available in numerous departments, including:   • Greeter & Information Desk• Patient Reception • Gift Shops • Emergency Room • Outpatient & Same Day Surgery • Courtesy Shuttle       • Auxiliary Board & Committees, Special Projects • Fall Golf Tournament Additional Details: Interact with staff, patients, and patient families. Each volunteer must receive a health screening, background check and comprehensive orientation training. This ensures well-prepared volunteers who are ready to serve. (Note: Junior Volunteers, who serve in the summer months, must be at least 14 years old and rising high school freshmen.)

Volunteers are needed to help in our two not-for-profit gift shops at Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina Hospital.  All proceeds from our gift shops support The Hospital Auxiliary’s programs which help our local patients and residents requiring financial support.

Volunteers will follow the instructions of the Gift Shop Manager to assist with different job duties in the Gift Shop.

Volunteer activities may include the following:

Greet patients and family entering the Gift Shop. Assist with receiving product and product display. Cash handling/operate cash register. Answer phones and take orders for gifts to be delivered to patients. Organize, clean, and make the shop attractive. Interact with staff, patients, and patient families.

Additional Details:

Moderate lifting/carrying/pushing. Be able to commit to volunteering once a week for a three-hour shift. Able to follow and execute instructions. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Able to work well with diverse populations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Sensitive to patient and family situations / dynamics.
