PASOs

PASOs is a SC, community-based, non-profit organization that works with the Spanish speaking residents of South Carolina to connect them to health and social services agencies and organizations to have strong and healthy families. PASOs utilizes the Community Health Worker (CHW) model and nurtures grassroots leaders within communities called Promotores, or CHWs, that serve as trusted access points for others. PASOs trains these grassroots leaders to navigate and connect individuals to appropriate resources. The CHW model helps amplify the voices and lived experiences of community members to inform the solutions and policies implemented that affect their lives.

In the Lowcountry, PASOs Community Health Workers (CHWs) are part of the staff of two local organizations: Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. whose mission is to provide quality, affordable, accessible and comprehensive health care services in the Lowcountry; and Beaufort County First Steps, whose mission is to help families and caregivers in Beaufort County prepare children for school success. We are thankful to these two agencies who understand the importance of hiring Community Health Workers to further their visions and missions among the Spanish speaking population in our area.
