Who We Are
HELP of Beaufort's mission - Building healthy communities by proving education, a safety net, and creating opportunities for those most vulnerable.
HELP was founded about 40 years ago by the First Presbyterian church to assist local families. There are only 1.5 paid positions. Everything else from hanging clothes, designing the website, to delivering meals, to writing grants, to interviewing families in their time of need to determine assistance, and everything in between is accomplished by the generosity of time of others.
What We Do
HELP provides emergency financial assistance to families in time of crisis, it operates a Wellness Pantry, a free Clothing Boutique, and a Mobile Meals program. HELP delivers almost 18 thousand meals a year, 65-70 individuals daily receive nutritious meals allowing them to stay in their homes. Annually about 420 families are able to keep their home due to financial assistance with their rent or utility bill. Over 2000 low-income families benefit from the Clothing Boutique. And, the same for food.
All of this is accomplished by volunteers.
