Who We Are
The Beaufort County Animal Services is a county run facility. We are an open admission shelter that provides service to the residents of Beaufort County. Being an open admission shelter we accept any animal that is brought to us by residents from within Beaufort County. Because of our REDUCE initiative —which was designed to reduce overpopulation, euthanasia, disease, owner surrenders, and cruelty —we've been able to: Begin to correct the disparity between the number of animals that come into our care and the number of homes willing to adopt them, especially for felines. Reduce the rate of euthanasia by 50% from 2013 compared to the same time period in 2011. Increase the Live Release rate to 66% during the same time period. Partner with Hilton Head Humane to provide a low-cost, high quality spay/neuter service for pets of people in need. We also continue to work with our limited-admission organizations, to ensure the reduction of euthanasia in our area. Given the current challenges facing animals in our community, we believe it is imperative to continue to be a place for all animals in need by continuing to operate as an open-admission shelter. Whether open-admission or limited-admission, our combined efforts are achieving more for animals now more than ever before.
