The Neighborhood Community Outreach Program of Hilton Head Presbyterian Church (HHPC) began largely in response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew in October of 2016. Since that time, the Neighborhood Community Outreach Program has been devoted to building relationships in our community through our efforts to make our neighbors and their homes safe, sanitary, and secure. What began as a few teams of willing volunteers in the aftermath of the storm grew into a 18 month project removing trees and debris from about 350 of our neighbors’ roofs and yards. As this work in the community revealed more extensive needs, the Neighborhood Community Outreach Program shifted its focus to replacing damaged roofs, wet ceilings, walls, and floors for families around the island, with much of the work being done in trailers and concrete block homes. In the years since, we’ve continued home repair projects year-round throughout Hilton Head focusing on the underserved population on the north end of Hilton Head (e.g. Squire Pope Road, Wild Horse Road, Gum Tree Road, Muddy Creek Road, Marshland Road, etc.)
